• What made the two of you start The Wheel Chair Doctor?

There is a massive need for support by people living with disabilities especially in South Africa. We did various studies and research polls, the feedback we received was overwhelming. It was then that we decided to register The Wheelchair Doctor to that we can be a problem solver for the various challenges the disabled community face on a daily basis.

  • What are some of your products and services?

We manufacture state of the art wheelchairs such as the Ruby Wheelchair which has the capability to be used on staircases , we have various off road wheelchairs and fully customizable wheelchairs to meet the needs of various individuals. We also have walkers and crutches amongst other mobility tools. We will also offer wheelchair rentals and assistance services at high traffic locations likes malls.

  • How will you impact the lives of people in township areas?

We plan on impacting the lives of millions over the next few years especially in township and rural areas, in fact our off road wheelchair was specifically designed for people living in rural areas, townships and farms.

  • You have been awarded multiple times for your business, tell us more?

We have won multiple awards , we have been awarded the Best Business Model Award at Y-Beca and at the Matlafatso Centre, I have been listed by the Mail and Guardian as one of their Top 200 Young South Africans. We have also achieved the Best Innovation Award by the SAB Foundation.

  • What are some of your future plans for the business?

We plan on building a mobility one stop shop which will also constitute as a manufacturing plant and a warehouse that will allow us to manufacture large scale and distribute even quicker.

  • You have been endorsed by President Ramaphosa , how does that feel?

It is an absolute honour and a privilege to have been endorsed by President Ramaphosa. We are still amazed that he was so impressed with our work.
