On the 27th of September, Terisa Hsu-Lee, a finalist in the Mrs. South Africa competition, celebrated her 40th birthday in a remarkable and charitable way. This unforgettable event not only added a touch of glamour and glitz to her milestone birthday but also served as a platform to raise funds for a noble cause – the South African Animal Cancer Association (SAACA).
In a heartwarming statement, Terisa expressed her commitment to making a difference, saying, “On this amazing journey, every Mrs. SA finalist gets to choose how they wish to embrace their journey of being a public figure. It was a true honor and pleasure to take my personal 40th birthday and use the celebration as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for animal welfare.”

The evening was nothing short of spectacular, filled with entertainment and surprises. The guests were treated to a dramatic cake smash moment and a lively flash mob performance to the upbeat tune of “I’m a Good Girl” by Cirk performers. Renowned performer Tobi Jooste graced the event with his mesmerizing voice, taking the guests on a musical journey to Europe.
The venue chosen for this special occasion was the Old French Duckie, an award-winning French restaurant located in Pineslopes, Johannesburg. Its charming ambiance added an extra layer of elegance to the celebration.

The generosity of those in attendance shone brightly that evening. Terisa’s event successfully raised over R11,000 through ticket sales, raffles, and an auction of a three-set art creation crafted by Terisa’s own children. These funds will go a long way in supporting the South African Animal Cancer Association’s vital work in caring for animals with cancer.
The celebration was graced by the presence of notable personalities, including the reigning Mrs. SA, Palesa Matjekane, and 2nd Princess, Lèchar Knezovich, as well as Mrs. SA 2022, Jo Judnik Wilson. Their presence added to the glamour and importance of the event.
In recognition of Terisa’s dedication to the cause, the founder of SAACA, Muunik Marais, personally awarded her with a SAACA certificate of recognition. This certificate serves as a testament to Terisa’s commitment to making a positive impact on animal welfare.
The event was not only attended by the stars of the pageant world but also by prominent public figures such as Nakedi Ribane and her daughter, Letsatsi Ribane, as well as Samad Davis and Galston Anthony. Friends, family, and supporters of Terisa Hsu-Lee also joined in the celebration, making it a truly memorable and heartwarming evening.
Terisa Hsu-Lee’s 40th birthday celebration was not just a glamorous affair but also a powerful testament to the impact individuals can have when they choose to use their special moments to support a worthy cause.
