As we navigate the complex challenges facing our society today, it is more important than ever to have young voices that inspire us to think outside the box and challenge the status quo. One such young woman who has been making waves in the world of activism is Simran Sahib, a 17-year-old student who will be delivering her first TEDx talk in just a few weeks.

Simran is an inspiring example of the power of youth activism. She is a fierce advocate for human rights, environmental protection, and social justice, and has been working tirelessly to promote change in her local community and beyond. She founded of the Legacy Gala Dinner for Girls, an initiative which is raising awareness around period poverty in order to change the narrative of the South African girl child having to miss school each month. Although still at school, 17 year old Simran is determined to make a difference to empower schoolgirls who can’t afford products for their monthly period.

This initiative not only provides sanitary wear but also empowerment workshops that allow girls and boys from different backgrounds to bridge the social gap, mentor each other and take back the learnings to their respective communities. Simran has been a vocal and passionate advocate for a more just and equitable world.

Simran has already accomplished so much. She is passionate about making a difference, wanting to study corporate law and economics when she leaves school.  As an up and coming model, she is a brand ambassador for various organisations who also participates in pageants and aspires to take her career global. She has played softball provincially, participated in cheerleading, volunteers her time as a qualified first aider and makeup artist. She founded her school’s debating team which she captained and is a notable public speaker. She has a love for writing poetry and a passion for history and literature.

Despite all of her accomplishments, Simran remains humble and focused on the work that still needs to be done. She is constantly looking for new ways to promote positive change, and she believes that her upcoming TEDx talk will be an important opportunity to share her message with a wider audience.

In her talk, Simran will be focusing on the power of youth activism and the importance of taking action in our communities. She believes that young people have a unique perspective and a powerful voice that can be used to effect real change, and she is eager to share her experiences and insights with others.

“I think that young people often feel powerless and like they can’t make a difference,” she says. “But the truth is that we have so much power, and we can use it to make a real impact in our communities and in the world.”

Simran’s TEDx talk promises to be an inspiring and thought-provoking event, and it will no doubt be the first of many speaking engagements for this dynamic and passionate young woman. She is a shining example of the power of youth activism, and she is sure to inspire others to get involved and make a difference in their own communities.

Simran’s biggest value is to do everything passionately and wholeheartedly.
“Those who are crazy enough to change the world are often the ones who do,” words by Steve Jobs that she lives by, with a firm belief in doing things that will have a positive effect and influence on other people to bring about positive change. With her commitment to creating a positive impact, Simran Sahib is doing just that.
