The JSE, through its She Invests conference, aims to help women take control of their financial journey. This year’s event, which will be held on August 13, will feature an array of inspirational female entrepreneurs and experts.
The event, which was held at the JSE’s headquarters, was the first of its kind to host both in-person and online attendees. According to Vuyo Lee, the objective of the conference was to provide women with the necessary tools and resources to make informed decisions when it comes to financial matters.
There are many lessons that women can learn from their investment journey in order to achieve financial independence.
Mbali Nwoko, a multi-awarded farmer and entrepreneur, encouraged women to not be afraid of their own potential and instead focus on their goals. She said that six years ago, she was a nobody who had no idea what to expect in the farming industry. Today, she is a first-generation farmer and has helped many others become successful.
One of the most important lessons that Nwoko learned during her time in the farming industry was how to bounce back from the losses and big wins that she experienced. She noted that the only thing that matters is how you can keep moving forward and not allow yourself to get carried away.
She urged women to be fearless and not be afraid of taking risks. She also said that they should put their skin in the game and be authentic. This is because taking risks can be very challenging.
