The Collen Mashawana Foundation and the People Matter Foundation have joined hands in a remarkable partnership to address the water crisis and improve the lives of communities in Hammanskraal, Pretoria.

In response to the devastating cholera outbreak that claimed the lives of 23 individuals and affected countless others, the Collen Mashawana Foundation and the People Matter Foundation have united under the Madi Ashu initiative. This collaborative effort aims to provide the Hammanskraal community with access to safe and reliable drinking water, effectively combating the waterborne disease that has plagued the region.

Thanks to the generous support of the Collen Mashawana Foundation and the People Matter Foundation, the initiative will primarily focus on installing boreholes within the community. These essential resources will ensure that the residents of Hammanskraal have a sustainable and dependable water supply, ultimately enhancing their quality of life and safeguarding their health.

The first borehole will be drilled within the premises of a church in Kanana, while the second will be located at the Adam Masebe School. By strategically placing the boreholes in schools and churches, the entire community will benefit, as an outlet or tap will be installed near the fence, providing easy access to clean water for all.

In addition to the borehole installations, the Collen Mashawana Foundation and the People Matter Foundation will extend their assistance to an Old Age Home in Hammanskraal by donating blankets. This act of kindness will provide much-needed comfort and warmth to the elderly residents, further demonstrating the foundations’ commitment to supporting the community holistically.

Water is an essential human right, and both foundations are dedicated to ensuring that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has access to this vital resource. With their extensive experience in sustainable water development and their unwavering dedication to improving the quantity and quality of water supply, the Collen Mashawana Foundation and the People Matter Foundation continue to make a profound impact on local communities and beneficiaries.

The official handover of the boreholes will take place on July 5, 2023, marking a significant milestone in the journey towards building a resilient and thriving community in Hammanskraal. This event symbolizes the collective efforts of the foundations, the community, and all those involved in bringing clean water to the people who need it the most.

As the Collen Mashawana Foundation and the People Matter Foundation work together, their partnership stands as a shining example of how collaboration and a shared vision can create positive change.
