Electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has strengthened its presence in South Africa with the opening of a new flagship dealership in Sandton, Johannesburg. The facility represents an important step in the company’s strategy to expand its footprint in the country’s growing new-energy vehicle market.
Operated by Harmony Auto Group, the dealership serves as a major brand centre capable of showcasing BYD’s expanding range of electric and hybrid vehicles. The opening forms part of the company’s broader plan to introduce advanced clean-energy mobility solutions to the South African market.
The modern two-storey facility spans approximately 5,000 square metres and features a spacious vehicle display area where customers can explore multiple models. The dealership also includes a dedicated brand experience zone and customer lounge designed to showcase the technology and innovation behind BYD’s electric mobility vision.
Visitors to the Sandton showroom will be able to view several of the brand’s vehicles currently available in South Africa, including the Dolphin hatchback, the Atto 3 SUV, and the Seal sedan. The lineup also includes hybrid models such as the Sealion and Shark ranges, highlighting the brand’s growing portfolio in the electric and hybrid mobility space.
The official opening brought together members of the media, business leaders, and automotive industry stakeholders to celebrate the launch. Cultural elements formed part of the event, reflecting the collaboration between Chinese automotive innovation and the South African market.
